Monte Vista High musicians selected to participate in Contra Costa County Honor Band 2012

CONGRATULATIONS~ to the following members of Monte Vista's Wind Ensemble for being selected to participate in this year's Contra Costa County Honor Band: Divya Appiah, Cody Dear, Hans Lee, Mitchell Marvin, and Hannah Thayer. Thanks for representing Monte Vista's great instrumental music program!  Concert information to follow.

Marching Band Success!

Against some tough competition, Monte Vista’s Marching placed first in their division at the Folsom Fall Festival on Saturday, November 5th!  Color guard placed second in their division.  After placing in the Top 12 overall, Monte Vista was invited to perform in the evening competition as well, where they placed 8th overall; a fabulous accomplishment considering they were competing with much larger bands!  Even the rain could not dampen their great effort and enthusiasm.  A huge thank you to Yvonne and Hanson Loey for coordinating an entire day of loading, packing, cooking, feeding, and cleaning up, with the help of many parent volunteers.  The pit crew was also amazing!  We are looking forward to more wonderful performances and competition results – we will keep you posted!

Fundraiser Results!

Cookie Dough Sales – Monte Vista parents and staff definitely have a sweet tooth…we were able to raise $2300 for deposit into their student accounts for later use while they participate in MV music!    An additional $500 from sales not tied to a particular student went into the Keynoters fund.  Cookie dough and other goodies will be delivered before Thanksgiving Break so keep an eye on this website and for emails regarding pick-up information.   Keynoters whishes to thank Christine Sharrock for her wonderful leadership of this fundraiser.

Car Wash and Bake Sale – What a beautiful day for a car wash and a cookie!  Kudos to Julie and Eric Foote for a very successful car wash and bake sale on October 15th, during which the students raised over $1000 that went into their student accounts for future use in instrumental music.  Another $1600 went into the Keynoters fund to support Mr. Cloyd and the Instrumental Music Program.  The Footes led a big team of parent bakers, ticket-takers and car wash supervisors, and we thank all of them for their help and participation.  Of course, it could not have happened without a huge number of IM students who sold tickets and worked hard washing cars – some of them stayed all day!

JOIN KEYNOTERS NOW!

The Monte Vista Keynoters help provide funds and volunteers for the MVHS Instrumental Music program.  Keynoter donations supplement participation fees and ensure complete funding for instrument and music purchase, tours and competitions, coaches and clinicians, and supplies for all students in the programs.  The extra funds required to operate a successful and award winning program like Monte Vista’s DO NOT come from the school district or the State.  Your tax-deductible donations to the Keynoters directly benefit your student participating in these high quality programs.  With a Keynoter membership, you will receive yearly passes and early seating to the concerts ($5.00 admission for non-members), but more importantly, your tax-deductible donation directly benefits your student’s Instrumental Music program!
