What is "Call Time"?
Call time is when students need to arrive to prepare for a concert, competition or other event.  It is imperative that students respect the Director and fellow students by arriving on time.

What attire is required of students at concerts?
Click Concert Dress to download a document describing concert attire requirements for the 2007-08 school year.

What are appropriate audience manners during a concert?
Please turn off your cell phone before the concert.  While the performance is in progress, remain seated and quiet. (If it becomes necessary to leave the auditorium, please do so between musical selections.)   If very young children become restless and disrupt others' ability to listen, please take them from the auditorium until they are quiet.  Please do not hum or clap along with the performers, unless specifically invited to do so.  Show your appreciation for the performance by clapping after each selection; whistling and cheering are not appropriate. For a piece with multiple movements, please hold applause until after the last movement.

What are the benefits of Keynoter membership?
The Monte Vista Keynoters help provide funds and volunteers for the MVHS Instrumental Music program.  Keynoter donations supplement participation fees and ensure complete funding for instrument and music purchase, tours and competitions, coaches and clinicians, and supplies for all students in the programs.  The extra funds required to operate a successful and award winning program like Monte Vista’s DO NOT come from the school district or the State.  Your tax-deductible donations to the Keynoters directly benefit your student participating in these high quality programs.  With a Keynoter membership, you will receive yearly passes and early seating to the concerts ($5.00 admission for non-members), but more importantly, your tax-deductible donation directly benefits your student’s Instrumental Music program!

How can I find out about scholarship, honor bands and other opportunities?
The Keynoters will work with the Instrumental Music Director to identify scholarships and other opportunities for students, and will post these on the Links page, and on bulletin boards in the Instrumental Music Room.

How can I find the latest Instrumental Music calendar of events?
The most current calendar of Instrumental Music events may be found here, however a full year calendar is available in the information rack next to the Keynoter mailbox in the Instrumental Music Room.

What is a student account and what is it good for?
The student accounts program is a portion of the MVHS Keynoter account, which is held for the benefit of the Instrumental Music students who participate in fundraising. The money in student accounts at all times remains the property of the Keynoters.  A portion of profits earned from individual fundraising efforts, e.g. cookie dough sales, may be credited to the individual’s  “student account”.  The percentage credited will vary by fundraising activity, and details will be available at the inception of each fundraiser.

Upon request, the Keynoter treasurer will apply monies allocated to an individual’s “student account” towards the cost of that individual’s MVHS Instrumental Music expenses, i.e. participation fees, uniforms, instrumental music tours, competition fees, or the senior banquet. Upon graduation or withdrawal from the instrumental music program, unused balances in “student accounts” are not distributable to students and remain Keynoter property.  Student accounts are not transferable, except, upon request, to a siblingwho is in the program or is entering as a freshman.
